It is just a fact of life that kids get bored all of the time. Or at least they believe they are bored. The truth is that these days there is plenty for kids to do. Particularly as computers open up more and more of the world at the click of a mouse. However not much online is suitable for children. And it is always a good idea to get kids involved with activities that require them to be creative. My kids turn into saints once they see the coloring sheets rolling out of the printer. First, Fairies are a very safe addiction! No kidding, once you see the wonderful fairy art that is on the internet, you could very well find yourself in love with creating the little creatures. When I was a little girl I was truly mad about Barbie, Royal Doulton Figurines, fairy tales and Coloring. Years later... and I mean quite a few years later, I have rolled all of these interests into fairy coloring and drawing. Well, coloring a fairy is a very important step towards being a fairy artist. There are so many false premises about becoming an artist. So many people believe that if they were not born drawing, that art is something they cannot take part in. I believe coloring is an excellent way to begin the process of becoming a fairy artist. There are also varying degrees of being an artist. There are so many benefits to getting involved in art, beyond just the outcome. Studies have shows that anxiety levels dropped in adults that colored. They did note that simple doodling had no affect on anxiety. The focus on coloring and switching off the brain allows that blocking of anxiety in the moment. Coloring does not have a need for complicated thought processes and like listening to calming music, you are able to get within yourself, isolated from external anxiety, commotion, and distractions. Bizarrely she has no mouth at all but that hasn't stopped her success in any way.
At special occasions like the Holidays we pretty much blanket the walls of our house in Coloring Pages. In December there are pictures of Santa, Rudolph the Reindeer, Sleighs, Christmas Trees, Elves, Carol Singers and much more all over the house. While at Halloween no matter where you go in our home there will probably be a Pumpkin, Bat, Little Devil or Ghoul staring at you! I am careful to pack them all away carefully afterwards and intend to still be using them decades from now, much to the probable embarrassment of my son. So if you are a parent and are looking for easy and low cost ways to spend quality time with your children I would say use Coloring Pages, you really can't go wrong with them. Check around at your local cheap shop for a 100 to 150 page coloring activity book and then carefully tear out the pages or cut them out. You will then see that this will give you one page with two pictures on it front and back. Get your child to pick through the pictures until they find one that they want to color in and let them go to it. When they have finished that picture turn it over and get them to color in the other side of the picture. This will keep them entertained for ages if they are tempted to just color one color then encourage them to make it more colorful because you something special planned for their picture once they have finished but they need to make it colorful. In fact when the internet came initially people were less aware about its utility but now parents can get their kids wonderful growing opportunities. It can either be downloaded or can be used over monitor itself. By coloring, children can work on developing their fine motor skills that are crucial, especially to preschoolers.
